What is a Robots.txt file and how to use it?

The job of the robots.txt file is to restrict the access of Google bots and other search engines to your site content. These robots operate completely automatically and before entering any site or page, they make sure that there is a robots.txt file on it and that content access is not restricted. All standard robots on the Internet will respect these rules and restrictions and will not visit and index your pages, but spam robots will not pay attention to this file. If you want to keep certain content secure and hide it from Internet robots, it is better to use page passwords.

In practice, using a robots.txt file allows you to design the pages of the site only for Internet users and not be afraid of duplicate content, the presence of many links on that page and a negative impact on SEO. It also allows you to hide junk and low-content pages from search engines so that robots on your site do not waste time indexing them.

To prevent all Internet robots from entering the page use the tag:<meta name=”robots” content=”noindex” />

And to restrict Google robots use the tag:<meta name=”googlebot” content=”noindex” />
